Giorgos and Kostas in the European Parliament

I never imagined that a journey that began in a small neighbourhood of Xanthi would one day take the Glossonauts all the way to the European Parliament. And yet… there we were. Standing in Brussels, surrounded by creators from every corner of Europe, carrying with us our stories, our hopes, and our love for the Greek language.

Walking through the Parliament’s long glass hallways felt almost surreal. It wasn’t the grandness of the building that moved me — it was the quiet realisation that a simple idea, born in a small city in northern Greece, had grown strong enough to bring us to the center of European dialogue.

Speaking About Identity, Language, and Home

The most powerful moments weren’t the official sessions or the big rooms. They were the conversations with Members of the European Parliament, where we spoke about where we come from, what we stand for, and what we dream of building.

We talked about the multicultural soul of Thrace, about the challenges and the beauty of our region, and about how language can bring people together in ways that borders never could.

And of course, we spoke about the Greek as something living, something that connects people across distances, something that carries memories and identity.

A Moment to Remember

Meeting Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, was one of those moments that stay with you long after they’re over. She spoke about democracy, expression, and the responsibility creators have when they use their voice in the digital world.

A Greek Heart in Brussels

As I walked through the Parliament, I felt a sense of gratitude. Gratitude for every student who ever tried to pronounce their first Greek word. For every message we receive from someone on the other side of the world who dreams of speaking Greek. For every person who believes in what we do.

Being there reminded me that even the smallest beginnings can lead to unexpected places. A small YouTube video. A classroom in Xanthi. A single idea about teaching Greek differently.

Little by little, all these moments became a community — a community that reached Brussels. Of course we had the change to see our Glossonauts students in Brussels. YES, there are Glossonauts everywhere!

The Journey Continues

Our days in Brussels were filled with learning, inspiration, and meaningful connections with creators from all 27 EU countries. Each one brought a story, a voice, a piece of their culture — and yet we all shared the same passion for creativity and communication.

As we returned home, one thought stayed with me:

You don’t need to start big to make an impact.
You only need to start.
And to believe in what you’re building.

This trip was more than an event. It was a reminder that language is not just grammar and vocabulary. Language is connection and identity..
